Sekundär is a fashion designer label founded in Berlin in 2018 by designer Chen Wen-Ting and now based in Taiwan. The brand creates one-of-a-kind accessories made with real flowers while curating a fashion and design studio that connects art, nature, and sustainability.
The name “Sekundär,” meaning “second place” in German, represents more than a name; it is a philosophy and way of life. Inspired by the wisdom of Daoism and a perspective beyond human-centered thinking, Sekundär believes that all things are interconnected and equal in existence, regardless of size or form. Nature, people, and all living beings deserve the same respect. Rather than placing ourselves first, we choose to place others and the natural world before ourselves.
We stand apart from fashion’s modern value system. We do not seek to become number one, nor do we pursue standardized ideals of beauty. We celebrate individuality and believe that beauty exists in uniqueness.
In an age of industrial mass production, Sekundär values craftsmanship and the spirit of handmade creation. Through the artisan's hands, materials are given a new life and their hidden soul is awakened. We embrace the idea of “perfectly imperfect,” believing that every natural material is already complete in its own way, just like every flower is uniquely beautiful.
Using carefully selected preserved flowers from Japan and high-quality resin materials, Sekundär creates one-of-a-kind real flower accessories that merge artistic expression with the energy of nature.

sekundär 由設計師陳玟廷於 2018 年創立於德國柏林，現品牌據點位於台灣。品牌以真花飾品創作為核心，同時策劃結合藝術、時尚與自然能量的設計工作室。
「Sekundär」在德文中意指「第二位」，這不僅是一個名稱，更是一種生活哲學。其靈感源自道家思想，反思以人類為世界中心的觀點。我們相信萬物皆有靈且彼此相互連結，不論大小、形式，都平等地存在於世界之中。因此，我們選擇將大自然與他人放在第一位，而將自己放在第二位。
我們不盲目追隨現代時尚既定的價值體系，也不追求標準化的美。我們相信真正的美來自獨特性，來自每個人與生俱來、不需被定義的樣貌。
在大量工業化生產的時代裡，sekundär 更珍惜手工創作的溫度與工藝精神。透過雙手與時間的投入，喚醒材料原有的靈魂與生命力。我們相信所有天然材質都以最完整的姿態誕生，如同每一朵花都有自己獨一無二的樣子，完美地存在於自己的不完美之中（Perfectly Imperfect）。

Vision
Sekundär aims to spread uniqueness and peace while celebrating the diverse beauty found across cultures. By combining art, fashion, and the energy of nature, the brand seeks to inspire meaningful cultural dialogue between East and West while sharing the wisdom of Daoist philosophy with the world.
We believe products should carry emotional value beyond functionality. Every creation has its own story — where it comes from, how it is made, and what it is made of. Through storytelling, Sekundär creates a deeper emotional relationship between products and consumers.
Sekundär also represents conscious consumerism — an opportunity to step away from the toxic cycle of overconsumption and return to a more intentional and meaningful way of living.

Founder Biography
Chen Wen-Ting, founder of Sekundär, has dedicated her career to fashion and sustainability. Originally from Taipei, Taiwan, she earned her Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design in Taiwan and later completed her Master's degree in Sustainability in Fashion in Germany.
Alongside her academic background, she gained experience working as a design assistant and production manager in both Taiwan and Germany. She has collaborated with fashion companies including Steinrohner and Michael Michalsky.
Chen Wen-Ting has received various international design awards and was invited to participate in Berlin Ethical Fashion Week in 2017 and 2018.
Her work has consistently explored themes of respect for nature, materials, and cultural diversity. Sekundär reflects her interpretation of Daoist philosophy and Asian aesthetics — a belief that all things possess spirit and energy, from humans and plants to mountains, rivers, and objects.
The philosophy of Sekundär believes that when we treat objects with care and respect, they return positive energy to us. This mindset is embedded throughout Chen Wen-Ting’s work and is reflected in every product’s quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.
